Measures against exhaust heat and noise of mining rigs using glow tents

As a measure against heat exhaust and noise from the graphic board, I tried to build an environment to manage the mining rig in the glow tent (glow box).

It seems that it is common for overseas minors as a measure against heat exhaust, but since there was no article in Japan, I would like to introduce the contents.

Operational status

I operate it like this.

Although it is a rig of about 1000W, it operates in the latter half of GPU 50 to 60 ℃ even during the daytime in the summer without an air conditioner.

Why operate with a glow tent?

Originally, the glow tent is a product for growing plants indoors, but in fact it also has the environment required as a place to install mining rigs.

Functions required for the mining rig installation location

• Heat generation from graphic boat, LED light ←　Heat resistance / fire resistance, heat insulation, light shielding　
• Installation of rig, can fire extinguish (in the worst case) ←　durable, waterproof　
• Exhaust heat measures ←　Ventilation port, fan installation location(Sufficient ventilation, airflow)

When I first saw this idea, I was impressed that I shouldn't think about it.

How to choose essential parts

Glow tent

• About 7000 to 20000 yen depending on the manufacturer and size.
  Manufacturers specializing in proper indoor cultivation products are expensive.
• Check the size of the intake and exhaust ports (approx. Inches).
  This will determine the size of duct fans and hoses you can buy.
• A transparent window makes it easier to see inside.

Dust fan hose

• Since it exhausts via a hose, choose a high static pressure type (a duct fan or an in-line fan. Maybe the ventilation fan has a weak pushing force?)
• There are "AC motors" that are cheap but have high power consumption and little air volume adjustment, and "DC / EC motors" that are expensive but energy-saving and can adjust air volume steplessly.
• It is easier to have a power switch or air volume adjustment switch in advance (some types require wiring by yourself)
• Check if the duct fan and hose size match.
• It is safe to have a certain degree of heat resistance (60 ° C or higher).

List of things used this time

For the time being, you can build the same environment by purchasing the following items.

First of all, the core glow tent.I bought a cheap one (a little less than 7000 yen) that has a window and is reasonably large.

Since the duct fan operates 24 hours a day, I wanted to choose a proper manufacturer (ACinfinity and Hon & Guan are famous) even if it was expensive, so I bought an EC motor made by ACinfinity (about 1.2 yen).Expected to be able to pay for electricity if used for a long time.

I used duct tape to prevent air from leaking from the fixing and connecting parts.Heat-resistant aluminum tape is recommended because ordinary tape has been peeled off by heat.

I also bought an automatic fire extinguishing ball just in case.In the worst case (fire from the rig), the fire spreads at once in the well-ventilated glow tent, increasing the risk of fire.I thought it would be better to buy peace of mind, so I installed it.

This time, I didn't buy it because I used the wiring hole for the air conditioner as the exhaust port, but if there is no such thing, I can make it with the duct panel for the window.After that, I use a 100% ventilation fan filter to prevent dust from entering.

A total of about 2.5 yen ...! !!

If I wanted to cool it with an air conditioner, would it be this much in a summer ...?If you think so, I think it's better.

If you proceed according to the instructions, you can install it without any trouble.

First of all, from the assembly of the glow tent.

Install the duct fan on the top.

With strong duct tape, fix the exhaust hose to the hole connected to the outside.

This hole was originally a wiring hole for an air conditioner, but I used it because it was a room without an air conditioner.

The rest is completed by installing an automatic fire extinguishing ball and a mining rig inside.

Electricity is secured from the outlet for the air conditioner.The outlet for the air conditioner is separate from the outlet in the room and the breaker, and since the voltage is a little high, I expect that the power conversion efficiency will improve.
