I purchased BUFFALO's external HDD "HD-TDA4U3-B (4TB)" for TV recording, so I'm going to disassemble it and review it.

I think that the product warranty will expire if you disassemble it, so at your own risk.

You can easily open the container by removing the one screw in the center of the back and sliding the container.

It's really easy and nice.

Take out the hard disk (HDD) and remove the screws on both sides together with the anti-vibration rubber.

ArrowIf you pull it in the direction of , you can remove the HDD from the board (converting the SATA connector of the HDD so that it can be connected with USB).It was a little stiff, so I pulled it out while shaking it left and right.

With this structure, even if the HDD breaks down or you want to increase the disk capacity, you can replace it as soon as you buy the internal HDD.

Internal hard disk

The built-in HDD isDT02ABA400V"was.This alone costs about 10000 yen.

The DT02-V series seems to be a high-spec specification for commercial use that requires power saving, durability and reliability, such as surveillance cameras that operate 24 hours a day.

The DT02-V series is a 32-inch HDD designed for consumer and commercial surveillance video systems supporting up to 3.5 cameras. The low power design with 5400rpm disk rotation provides tuned performance for 24/XNUMX multi-stream environments.

Toshiba Device &storageLtd.

In the past, I assembled an "external storage" with an internal SSD and a case, but considering that an external case costs about 3,000 yen, this product, which is equivalent to an "HDD + case," should be around 13,000 yen. This is 1 yen, so it's a great deal.

HDD data transfer rate

I measured the data transfer speed of the storage with CrystalDiskMark.

As an HDD rotating at 5400 rpm, the value is in line with general performance.

There seems to be no particular problem for recording and playback purposes.
